Baghdad : The fourth round of trilateral talks among Iran, Iraq and the US on Iraq’s security has been postponed until after Eid-e Qorban (Feast of Sacrifice) which commemorates the end of annual Haj ceremony, Iraq’s Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari said on Saturday.
Zebari announced this after his meeting with Iranian delegation in Baghdad where he also underlined that the postponement is due to technical reasons rather than political.
The previous rounds of talks were quite fruitful, he said adding that the results of such meetings in political, security and psychological terms were quite acceptable.
Iran’s Ambassador to Baghdad Hassan Kazemi Qomi said the Iranian delegation is now in Baghdad to prepare the grounds for the fourth round of talks between Iran, Iraq and the US.
“We hope that, as in the previous rounds, the fourth round of talks would help alleviate the sufferings of the Iraqi people,” Qomi said.
“We made our views known to Iraqi officials prior to holding the fourth round of talks among Iran, Iraq and the US,” he said.
The exact date for the 4th round of talks is yet to be announced.
