Chandigarh/Gurgaon : Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda Sunday announced that Gurgaon city, adjoining national capital New Delhi, will soon have a municipal corporation.
Hooda said the new municipal corporation will be better suited to the development of the city – which has emerged as an attractive destination for industrial and information technology (IT) investment from within India and abroad.
The new corporation is expected to be set up early next year. Presently the city is run by the Haryana urban development authority (HUDA) and a few other state agencies.
“We have sanctioned an amount of Rs.7.76 billion for the development of Gurgaon in three years. Rs.2.75 billion have already been spent for this purpose. We want to make this city a truly world-class one,” Hooda said while addressing a rally in Gurgaon.
He said Gurgaon had built a distinct identity for itself with investment worth billions of rupees coming here. The government wanted to provide top-class facilities here.
