In a press release, the organisation said the bodies of Mohammad Helal and Sarmad Hamdi, reporters in the Baghdad TV channel who were kidnapped separately, were found in the forensics centre.

Helal was kidnapped in Al-Yousefiya, south of Baghdad, as he was heading to work, while Hamdi was kidnapped from his home in Al-Jamia district, where the Iraqi satellite channel Baghdad TV building is located.

Several attacks targeted the channel's headquarters, including a suicide attack last April, which was followed by militants entering the building, the killing of the channel's deputy director and his assistant, and the injury of nine other people.

An official in the channel, who requested anonymity, said that since the attacks, the channel's programmes are broadcast from Jordan for security reasons. The building in Baghdad is now only a branch, said the official.

Since March 2003, 230 reporters and people in the media were killed in Iraq, according to Reporters Without Borders secretary-general Robert Menard.
