New Delhi : Hyundai Motor India, the second largest passenger car manufacturer in India, Wednesday launched the compressed natural gas (CNG) version of Santro here.
Santro, which has been sold to over a million Indian buyers since its launch in late 1998, will now provide the potential owners a more economical and environment friendly drive.
"CNG has established itself as an eco-friendly and economical fuel and Hyundai will now offer this choice of fuel to its Santro customers," said Arvind Saxena, vice president of Hyundai Motor India.
"We feel that this will increase the attractiveness of Santro as it will considerably bring down the running cost. Also the fuel is eco-friendly which adds to its attractiveness."
The dual fuel Santro, which comes with a 1.1 litre petrol engine, will use CNG as an alternate fuel.
The model is priced at Rs.325,361 and is fitted with a manual selector switch, which would enable the driver to easily switch from gasoline to CNG and vice versa.
