Patna : A raid was conducted at the residence of a senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer here Friday for allegedly having assets more than his known sources of income.
The raid at the residence of S.S. Verma, a secretary in the irrigation department, was conducted by a team of the state vigilance department's CLEAN (Corruption-Linked Efforts for Affirmative Action).
This is the second time a senior official's residence has been raided in Bihar. In February this year, the special vigilance team, on its first assignment, raided the residence of senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Narayan Mishra.
Police has filed a first information report (FIR) against Mishra, who was police chief during the previous government led by Rabri Devi. He retired last week.
Nearly 100 government officials have been arrested in the last one-and-half years as the vigilance department stepped up its drive against corruption.
