Bhopal : Sunil Joseph, a Christian of Bhopal, brought laurels to the city when he made a new world record by writing the Holy Bible (NT) with a team of 77 persons in 232 minutes here on Saturday which was a special day to make the importance of 07 / 07 / ’07.

Sunil Joseph after achieving the feat said, “This is an effort to spread the message of love in the Holy Bible for the unity and brotherhood of our country. It is also to encourage people to read the message of love embedded in the Holy Scripture.

It may be recalled that on December 16, 2005 Joseph had completed his first world record attempt of writing Holy Bible with his own hand taking 123 days. This record made seven world records, namely minimum period ever completed in writing Holy Bible by own hand, heaviest (61 kg), thickest (3 feet 7 inches), maximum number of pages hand written (16000 pages), one verse in one page and mirror image reading.

According to Fr. Anand Muttungal, PRO & spokesperson Catholic Church, Madhya Pradesh & Chattisgarh, who co-ordinated the programme, as per the Christians belief, this day is all the more important because this day is the most complete date, year and time of this century. The Christian community considers number seven as the most complete number among all numbers. Holy Bible reads, “God blessed the seventh day and set it apart a special day, because by that day He had completed His creation….(Genesis 2:3). As per the Christian belief the day is counted from sun set to sun set. Therefore, this day is considered 7th day and most complete day. The number seven has a place in many cultures i.e. seven rivers, seven rounds are made around the holy fire during the Hindu ritual of marriage, seven sounds make melody etc.

The programme began at 4.30 pm with a thanks giving prayer for all those people worked to make Taj Mahal among seven wonders of the world. Archbishop Dr. Pascal Topno presided over the function. Following the prayer at 5 pm the attempt started to make Bible Hand Writing a World Record. It ended at 7.32 pm with a common prayer. Christians from all denominations took part in the programme. The youngest person who took part was Clodya aged 11 years while Edans Vishvas Singh aged 77 was the oldest person to participate in the programme.

Archbishop Dr. Pascal Topno while inaugurating the historic event said, it is a historic movement of brotherhood among the Christians. We are one in Christ, our differences are nothing before the strong brotherhood feeling we have among us.

Fr. Muttungal said: “ 07 / 07/ ’07 is perhaps the most auspicious day of the century and we have made it a day of remembrance for brotherhood and love. World record attempt is a sign of Christian unity in Madhya Pradesh. As Taj is the symbol of love, the Holy Bible is the symbol of Love revealed through Lord Jesus Christ. So we celebrated this day by this efforts.

A large number of people from different walks of life witnessed the event. Participants included priests, sisters, pastors, brothers, people from all denominations. Among others Omar Farook Khattani , Secretary to Madhya Pradesh State Minority Commission, Additional Distinct Magistrate Ved Prakash, L S. Herdenia, a social activist, Subash Yadav, Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee president, etc. too witnessed the programme. ([email protected])
