Karan Sharma was alighting from the bus at Vikaspuri when the driver accelerated, crushing the boy. Karan died immediately.

Police said the bus driver fled from the scene of the accident. The Blueline was plying between Uttam Nagar in west Delhi and the Inter-State Bus Terminus (ISBT) in north Delhi.

A case has been registered against the driver for causing death due to rash and negligent driving and efforts are on to nab him, an official said.

Karan's death comes just a day after a speeding Blueline bus crushed a cyclist and critically injured a pedestrian in Sultanpuri, also in west Delhi.

On July 1, a Blueline bus ran over an 11-year-old school student who was going with his father on a scooter to show his sick dog to a vet.

Blueline buses have been involved in around 60 fatal accidents so far this year, police said.

The Delhi government has decided to phase out entire fleet of Blueline buses.

On Friday, in the first decisive step against the buses since they were introduced over a decade ago, the Delhi government cancelled the permits of 600 Bluelines. Many of these were found violating the law.
