A division bench headed by Chief Justice M.K. Sarma asked the respondents to file their replies to the petitioner within seven days.

The Akhil Bharatiya Grahak Panchayat, a non-government organisation, said Doordarshan was not going to show the cricket matches and that this was in violation of the Sports Broadcasting Sharing Act.

According to the Act that came into force this year, all private channels showing live telecast of matches have to share their feed with Doordarshan for the benefits of cricket lovers, said the petition.

Advocate Vijay Hansaria accepted the notice on behalf of the Prasar Bharati.
