Gorakhpur : Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO) president Bishruddin Sharqi said there is no need to see extremism and terrorism in any educational or religious institution while the fact is that those graduating from modern educational institutions suffer from mental delirium and extremism. He was talking to presspersons here Thursday.
"Islam has nothing to do with extremism. Those who are equating extremism with Islam are in fact harming the basic principles of Islam," he said without mincing any words.
Throwing light on the objectives of the organisation, Mr Sharqi said his organisation aims at containing the educational backwardness of Muslims and promoting moral excellence among them. "However, our doors are open for the youth belonging to other religions as well," he added.
"The SIO will launch three educational caravans from West Bengal, Kerala and Delhi on November 3 to mark its Silver Jubilee celebrations. On November 25 the caravans will finally reach Mumbai where a national level conference will address the educational issues confronting the Muslims," he informed.
Mr Sharqi further said that seminars and symposiums on the need for education, redefinition of education, youth's ability to struggle and sense of social responsibility among them would be organised at the towns and cities where the caravans would pass through so that people might be awakened to realise the importance of education.
He admitted that Muslims are backward in the field of education, and Muslims' negligence as well as government's indifference towards education is responsible for this condition of Muslims.
Mr Sharqi also revealed that his organisation would open medical and technical educational institutions in the country.
