Six gangsters held in Delhi

New Delhi : Six alleged gangsters were arrested here for their involvement in several robbery and theft cases, Delhi Police said Friday.

Mehfooj, Jafar, Ramjanee, Tasabar, Jamil and Guddu were arrested Thursday while planning to rob a patrol pump in Tikona Park in northeast Delhi. Police also recovered two revolvers, five live cartridges and one knife from them.

According to the police, all the accused belong to Uttar Pradesh.

“During interrogation, the accused confessed to their involvement in many cases of robbery and theft registered in Uttar Pradesh,” northeast district Deputy Commissioner of Police Jaspal Singh said.

In a separate incident, a dreaded criminal was arrested in southwest Delhi for his involvement in various cases of murder, extortion and abduction.

The accused, Data Ram, an alleged member of the Kishan Pahalwan gang, was arrested in the Najafgarh area Thursday.

Police said a pistol and a knife were recovered from him.
