Los Angeles : Lindsay Davenport's retirement from tennis could turn into one of the shortest on record as the former No.1 toys with the idea of a return.
Ten months after playing her last match, Davenport, who became a mother recently, said that she would now consider a return to the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) circuit.
"I hope so," the 31-year-old said Tuesday, regarding her possible reversal during a teleconference promoting her participation in the summer World Team Tennis league, playing for Sacramento.
The three-time Grand Slam champion had her child less than six weeks ago.
"Things have healed really quickly," she said. "I've had a great recovery. For about two and a half weeks, I've been pretty active, been able to practice now the last week at a very high percentage. I'm glad there were no complications."
The American, who last competed in September in Beijing, still ranks 68th in the world.
