New Delhi : Maulana Syed Arshad Madani has been re-elected president of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind for the term 2007-08, the organisation's general secretary Maulana Mahmood Madani said in a statement released here Thursday.
"As per Section 51 A of the constitution of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, State executive councils of the Jamiat recommended the name of Maulana Syed Arshad Madani for the post of the organisation's president. Only one State executive council recommended the name of Maulana Qari Syed Muhammad Osman, Deputy Proctor Darul Uloom Deoband for the post but Maulana Osman did not entertain it. Hence the name of Maulana Syed Arshad Madani is declared as president of the Jamiat for the term 2007-08," the statement said.
Maulana Mahmood Madani further said that the electoral process for the functionaries at State, district and local levels will be completed by August 20.
