Hyderabad : A top official of Satyam Computer Services Limited, one of India's leading software services firms, was Tuesday kidnapped from Secunderabad, the twin city of Hyderabad.
General manager Satya Vedula was kidnapped when he had gone to drop his son to school in Bhopalpuram area. His wife lodged a complaint with police when he did not return.
Police said no one reported to have witnessed the kidnapping – Vedula himself called his wife to report his kidnapping but did not identify the kidnappers or their motive behind the abduction.
Police suspect that a monetary motive or some land dispute could be behind the crime. The family said it had not received a ransom call yet.
Police started investigations and questioned a few people.
Satyam, India's fourth largest software exporter with its headquarters here, said it was concerned about Vedula's safety.
"We have learnt of the kidnapping of our associate, Satya Vedula, from his family today morning. This unfortunate incident happened in Secunderabad area in Hyderabad. We are monitoring the situation with the police and are concerned about his safety. We pray for his speedy reunion with his family," said a statement from Satyam.
