The match in question will be a Pro40 Division Two contest between Middlesex and Derbyshire, to be held on Sep 10 and originally scheduled to have taken place in Southgate, reports Sky Sports News.

The historic ground's owners Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) chief executive Keith Bradshaw said: "We are delighted to be hosting its first floodlit match at Lord's.

"We are pleased that Westminster Council has approved the use of temporary floodlights and are greatly looking forward to hosting another big occasion.

"Lord's is a world-class venue and we're always looking at ways to maintain and improve our facilities.

"A match under temporary floodlights will not only end the season at Lord's on a high note, but will provide us with very useful information with regards the staging of such matches here.

"It will be a historic day for the traditional home of cricket and could open up the possibility of floodlit one-day internationals in the future if successful."
