New Delhi : India's Navpreet Singh Saturday won the men's shot put gold medal with a throw of 19.70 metres at the Asian Athletics Championships in Amman, Jordan.
Singh's gold-winning throw came on the second of the six attempts.
Chinese Taipei's Ming-Huang Chang clinched the silver with a 19.66m throw and Khaled Habash M. Al Suwaidi of Qatar bagged the bronze with a 19.51m effort.
Earlier in the day, national record holder Sreedharan Preeja won her second silver medal of the competition when she came second in the women's 5,000m race.
Preeja, who had earlier won the 10,000m silver, clocked 16 minutes, 56.16 seconds to finished behind gold medal winner Bahrain's Kareema Saleh Jasmin, who clocked 16 minutes, 40.87 seconds, according to the Indian Athletics Federation.
Mi Gyong Kim of North Korea finished third by clocking 18 minutes, 21.32 seconds.
India's Krishna Poonia won bronze in the women's discus throw with a throw of 55.38m. Her compatriot Harwant Kaur finished fourth with 52.43m.
