London : Despite the heroics of Harbhajan Singh, Surrey were unable to force victory on the final day of their crucial first division relegation battle with Worcestershire at Guildford in the English county championships.
The Indian off-spinner took all five second innings wickets and nine in the match but Phil Jaques kept the Surrey bowlers at bay for more than five hours Saturday to deny the home side the win, reports Sky Sports News.
Yorkshire claimed 12 points from their match with Kent and stay top of first division, after Younus Khan's second unbeaten double century of the season ensured maximum batting bonus points.
The Pakistan Test batsman hit 217 not out from 252 balls in Yorkshire's 550 for nine declared, before Kent finished the game on 17 without loss.
The visitors got 11 points for their efforts in a game, which never really looked likely to produce a result.
Left-arm seamer Charl Willoughby took 4/12 to help Division Two leaders Somerset smash Derbyshire.
The home side – who had been set 311 to win on the final day after some generous declarations – were shot out for just 52 in their second innings.
Willoughby did much of the damage, claiming four wickets in an excellent nine-over spell while spinner Ian Blackwell picked up 3/8.
There was no chance of a positive finish at Abergavenny as a wet outfield denied any play Saturday in the clash between Glamorgan and Leicestershire.
The two teams failed to bowl a single ball in the entire match as they had to settle four points apiece.
