Cairo : Foreign ministers from 16 Arab countries Monday began a meeting at the Arab League headquarters here to explore ways to revive the Middle East peace process.
The meeting is expected to focus on the Arab peace initiative as well as a call by US President George W. Bush for a conference on Middle East peace next autumn.
The foreign ministers of Egypt and Jordan are also expected to present their report on their visit to Israel last week.
The foreign ministers of Syria and Libya did not attend Monday's meeting. Libya had earlier objected to the inclusion on the meeting agenda the issue of six Bulgarian medics convicted in Libya of infecting children with human immuno-deficiency virus (HIV).
