UAE, Australia agree to deal with terrorism

Canberra : The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Australia have signed two treaties regarding extradition of criminals and mutual legal assistance to deal with global terrorism and organised trans-border crime, WAM news agency reported Monday.

UAE Minister of Justice Mohammed bin Nakhira Al Dhahiri and his Australian counterpart David Johnston signed the accords here Sunday.

The agreements enable the two countries to extradite those accused of crimes such as human trafficking, money laundering, corruption and terrorism.

The ministers said they constitute a significant step towards cementing mutual cooperation aimed at fighting trans-border crime.
