New Delhi : The union cabinet Thursday cleared in principle a proposal to set up a second international airport in Mumbai.
It will be the country's third greenfield airport, after the two coming up in Bangalore and Hyderabad.
The new airport to come up at Navi Mumbai, the satellite township of the metro, at an estimated cost of Rs.99.70 billion, is expected to have a capacity of handling 80 million passengers per annum, said an official announcement.
