50,000 metric tonne wheat procured in MP

Bhopal, June 3 :  A total of 50,000 metric tonne wheat has been procured on minimum support price so far in Madhya Pradesh.
    However, the procurement quantity is less than the set target but increase has been registered in all the procurement centers during the last few days. The Madhya Pradesh State Civil Supplies Corporation, (MPSCSC), has extended the procurement deadline upto June 30. An amount of Rs. 32 crore has been paid to the farmers so far against procurement.
    It may be mentioned that wheat procurement activities are undertaken in the state every year from March 15. The MPSCSC had set up 929 procurement centers apart from 136 centers established by the Food Corporation of India, (FCI), to undertake procurement in all the 48 districts of the state. The wheat was procured by the MPSCSC through agent Sewa Sahkari institutions at the rate of Rs. 850 per quintal including Rs 100 bonus although the minimum support price was declared as Rs. 750 per quintal by the Union Government. Necessary arrangements were made by the government including bags.
The MPSCSC has procured 49,535 metric tone wheat so far where as 8938 metric tonne wheat has been procured by the FCI. The 90 per cent of the wheat procured in the past has been transported safely to the warehouses. ( [email protected])
