Bhopal, June 7: The Jamat-e-Islami Hind (Bhopal branch) is organizing a 10-day programme christened as 'Qur'an Parichay' to introduce to the non-Muslims about the message of the Holy Qur'an and its efficacy to humanity at large from tomorrow here at Iqbal Maidan

According to Abdul Ahad, Ameer Jamat-e-Islami's Madhya Pradesh-Chhattisgarh, eminent theologians and scholars of Holy Qur'an from all over India will  deliver lectures during the programme. The lectures will be held between 9.30 p.m. and 11 p.m. everyday. Prominent speakers would be Maulana Mohammad Farooq Khan, Maulana Mohammad Iqbal Mulla, Maulana Zain-ul- Abideen, Maulana Abdul Sami etc. Some non-Muslims would also get opportunity to express their views on the occasion, he added.

The topics of the lectures will range from "Holy Qur'an and World Peace", "Holy Qur'an and Modern World / Science" to monotheism, problems plaguing India and the political system.

Ameer Abdul Ahad said the exhibition featuring books and the message of the Holy Qur'an will remain open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily during the period.

Meanwhile, the venue of the programme which was originally planned to be held in new Bhopal area inhabited mostly by non-Muslims in order to reach out to them had to be shifted to the walled city as the district administration developed cold feet fearing security risks.

Javed Akhtar of Jamat-e-Islami had applied for TT Nagar Dussehra ground, in new Bhopal on May 15 to the Additional District Magistrate MB Ojha. As per process, the application was forwarded to Superintendent of Police and subsequently to the TT Nagar police station under which the venue is situated.

According to Akhtar the police in its report stated that following security reasons,it suggested to shift the venue to somewhere in old Bhopal because TT Nagar Dussehra ground was situated in Hindu-populated areas. It was also stated that the police and administration would face problems in making arrangements for this 10-day programme.

He cited two reasons for the organization's plan to hold the programme at Dussehra ground as it has huge capacity and people of other religion should also come to know about the Holy Qur'an as it is not meant for Muslims alone. ([email protected])
