"The idea is to leverage on each other's core competence, thus ensuring a steady outflow of project-ready design engineers for mutual benefit of the industry and the workforce," a senior company official said here Friday.

The two entities will join hands to form Jaintec-DESCON Training Solutions.

A crucial issue of human resource development in the engineering sector, necessary for the industrial resurgence of West Bengal, is going to be addressed with the tie-up, the official said.

"West Bengal, along with the rest of the country, produces a good number of engineering graduates every year. Yet research reports suggest that only a fourth of them are employable. This is due to lack of industry-relevant skills. In the disciplines of civil and mechanical engineering, ingenuity and designing capabilities are attributes much sought after yet not found," he said.

DESCON managing director S. Radhakrishnan and Jaintec CEO Ashish Kumar will formally announce the tie up here June 12.

Descon, promoted by Dishergarh Power Supply Company Ltd in 1995, has over 200 engineers in its office at the Sector V IT hub of Kolkata at Salt Lake.
