Warsaw : An exhibition of paintings by well-known Indian women artists, including Illoosh Ahluwalia, Natasha Parinja, Anita Tanwar and Kakoli Sen are on display in Warsaw after having toured several Polish towns.
In the past six months, these paintings have been exhibited in towns like Szczcin, Gdansk, Torun, Krakow and have been well-received by Polish artists and connoisseurs alike, reported INEPNEXT news service.
The collection was inspired by an exhibition "Celebrating Women" organised by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) on the occasion of International Women's Day in 2004.
Through these paintings, the artists have interpreted gender in their personal unique style. Each of these paintings is a celebration of women through myriad colours on canvas.
The collection encapsulates the creative essence of India from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and from Kamakhya to the Kutch.
Indian Ambassador to Poland Anil Wadhwa inaugurated the exhibition in all the towns.
Janusz Krzyzowski, president of the Indian Cultural Committee in Warsaw, said there was great demand to hold programmes about India in Polish cities.
"India is a cultural super power and it should take the lead to promote its art, literature and music in Poland," he said.
