London : The Taliban forces in Afghanistan are "recovering" and focusing their attention on mounting more attacks on capital Kabul, a spokesman for the militant group told the BBC in an interview Thursday.
The spokesman, Zabiyullah Mujahed, told the BBC's veteran correspondent, John Simpson, the organization had recovered after NATO had infiltrated the group and killed some of its leaders, and more people were volunteering to carry out suicide bombings.
A bomb attack on a police bus in Kabul last Sunday killed at least 24 people.
"It is true we are increasing our pressure on Kabul, because Kabul is the capital city and the foreign troops are concentrated there," Mujahed said.
He added that the "independence and freedom of our country" was the goal of the Taliban and that they were repeating the same tactics used by insurgents in Iraq.
"A lot of people are coming to our suicide bombing centre to volunteer," he said.
