New Delhi : An Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) trooper posted at Jammu and Kashmir National Conference chief Omar Abdullah's 7 Akbar Road residence allegedly attempted suicide Wednesday morning, police said.
Head Constable Sehdev Singh, 35, shot himself with his service rifle at around 11.30 a.m. inside the house, the police said.
Sehdev Singh, who hails from Baghpat in Uttar Pradesh, was posted at the MP's house since June 2.
Police said Sehdev received a bullet injury on his left shoulder and was rushed to the Ram Manohar Lohia hospital where he is recuperating.
"Initial investigation suggest he was tense over his transfer. We are probing the matter," a police official said.
