Kuala Lumpur : Family members of the Indian migrant worker who died last week after being allegedly tortured by his employer are planning to send someone from the family when the court proceedings begin.
R. Ganesh from Tamil Nadu died after being allegedly beaten and starved for eight months by his Malaysian employer. He was eventually dumped in a jungle, about 400 km from the Malaysian capital. Villagers discovered him and took him to hospital where he died last Friday.
The deceased’s uncle P. Gurunathan said they were contemplating sending one of their relatives to follow the case, the New Straits Times reported.
“We want to know exactly what happened to Ganesh and the tortures that he had endured which led to his death,” Gurunathan said.
“All we want is for justice to prevail,” he added.
Once the proceedings start, Ganesh’s employer and his family members are expected to face murder charges.
Ganesh’s body has been flown back to India.
