Baghdad : Five policemen were killed and two others wounded in a roadside bomb attack in southern Baghdad Friday, a police source said.
“A roadside bomb went off near a police patrol while passing in the Hai al-Amil neighbourhood, killing five policemen and wounding two others,” the source said, adding that at least two police vehicles were damaged in the attack.
Insurgents frequently attack Iraqi security forces, accusing them of collaborating with the US occupation forces.
The attack came despite the US and Iraqi security forces having put in place a security plan in the capital Feb. 14 to control rampant violence.
