The protestors urged the Indian government to prevent the Dera chief from publishing what they described as "anti-Sikh propaganda".

During the protest, city councillor Gurdial Singh Atwal and members of the Federation of Sikh Organisations (UK), who organised the event, met Indian diplomats and handed over a letter addressed to the Indian president.

Atwal said: "We are protesting against sacrilegious acts committed in India. We want to voice our concerns to the Indian high commissioner."

One person was killed and nearly 100 people injured in sectarian violence across Punjab in the past five days.
