New York : US Republican leaders are expected this week to endorse former New York City mayor Rudolph Giuliani for the Republican presidential nomination.
New York state party chairman, Joseph Mondello, will endorse Giuliani for president at an afternoon event at a Manhattan hotel Monday, according to Anthony Santino, a spokesman for the chairman.
On Tuesday, Giuliani will be endorsed by senate majority leader Joseph Bruno, New York State Assembly minority leader James Tedisco, as well as other GOP (Grand Old Party) lawmakers in Albany, capital of the New York State.
National polls have shown Giuliani leading the field for the GOP nomination and Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York leading on the Democratic side.
The string of Giuliani's endorsements is expected just one week after Clinton's trip to the New York state capitol, where Gov. Eliot Spitzer and other top New York Democrats endorsed her.
