Manali : Foreign currency worth one million euros has been seized from two Kashmiri men in the Kullu valley of Himachal Pradesh, police said Monday.
"One million euros have been seized from Fayad Ahmed, Rais Ahmed at Nehru Kund on the outskirts of the resort town of Manali late Sunday," a senior police official, K.C.Rana said here Monday.
"The foreign currency was seized from the two men who are engaged in shawl selling business in Manali and hail from Kashmir's Kupwara district," he said.
Apparently the two men were attempting to sell the foreign currency.
"We have arrested the two men and are questioning them," added Rana.
By using a local resident Nirlep Singh as a decoy, the police managed to arrest the men who were willing to pay higher sum even though the foreign currency is said to be valued at Rs 58 million, police sources said.
