Ranchi : It has taken police 38 years to arrest a person charged with theft and attempt to murder in Jharkhand.
The case against Hari Lohra, who was arrested Monday, was filed way back in 1969. The resident of Budmu Khelari block, about 60 km from here, is now 62 years old.
In 1974, police had announced a reward of Rs.30 for the capture of Lohra, charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code. This was increased to Rs.50 in 1984.
"We are interrogating Lora and trying to find out what he was up to during all these years. We are also trying to find out whether he was involved in any other crime," said a police official.
Lohra was arrested from New Magardaha village following a tip-off by some people, who tracked his past only to find that he had been absconding for almost four decades.
