Hyderabad : General Secretary Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind and Member of Parliament Maulana Syed Mahmood Madani called on Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy soon after arriving here Sunday evening and demanded a thorough probe into the Makkah Masjid blast and subsequent police firing by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), immediate detention and suspension of and stringent action against erring police officials.
The chief minister apprised him of the details of steps taken to provide succour for the kins of the blast victims and for the treatment of those rendered injured.
He agreed in principle with the Jamiat leader that the blast warrants a CBI enquiry. He also agreed to provide a job for one member of a victim's family and assured him that immediate necessary action would be taken in this regard.
The Jamiat leader was accompanied by state president of Jamiat Hafiz Peer Shabbir Ahmed, state general secretary Peer Khaleeque Ahmed Sabir, general secretary Marathwada Maulana Hafiz Nadeem Siddiqui.
Maulana Mahmood Madani later said that on his return to Delhi he would meet UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to demand their intervention and a CBI probe into the case.
