Islamabad : Two soldiers were killed Saturday and seven others injured when a roadside bomb exploded near a military convoy in Pakistan's troubled northwestern region bordering Afghanistan, said an official.
"The convoy was hit at 7.15 this morning near the town of Tank," army spokesman Major General Waheed Arshad said. Two of the injured soldiers were in critical condition.
Located in South Waziristan in the restive border area with Afghanistan, Tank has suffered several attacks by Islamic militants in recent weeks.
Five people were killed and over a dozen injured in a clash between heavily armed militants and security forces May 16.
