Jaipur : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Jaswant Singh's wife has filed a complaint against a poster depicting Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje as a goddess, saying it has hurt Hindu religious sentiments.
Sheetal Kumari said in her complaint to Jodhpur's police superintendent that a case be registered against Hemant Bohar, the creator of the controversial poster, and legislator Suraya Kant Vyas for releasing it.
Additional Superintendent of Police S.S. Godara will probe the complaint.
"I will undertake a preliminary enquiry. Action will be taken only after the enquiry," Godara told IANS from Jodhpur.
The poster by Bohra released in April depicts Raje as Annapurna, the goddess of harvest, showering blessings on her ministers.
The poster also shows former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee as lord Vishnu, L.K. Advani and BJP president Rajnath Singh as Brahma and Shiva respectively.
Two ministers in Raje's cabinet – Laxmi Narayan Dave and Pratap Singh Singhvi – were depicted as Kuber and Indra – gods of wealth and rains respectively.
Bohra had earlier justified the portrayal saying Raje truly deserved a "divine status" for all the work she had done for Rajasthan.
