"Talks between Iran's secretary of Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) and (Javier) Solana have been delayed upon an agreement between the two sides," foreign ministry spokesman Mohammad-Ali Hosseini told reporters here Sunday.

The talks were scheduled to take place on May 31 in a European country.

"The rescheduled date and venue of Solana-Larijani talks will be announced later after consultations between the two sides," IRNA quoted Larijani Hosseini as saying.

Larijani and Solana held two rounds of nuclear talks in Ankara in April.

The UN Security Council had on March 24 adopted a new resolution with tougher sanctions to pressure Iran to suspend uranium enrichment activities. The US and other Western countries have been accusing Iran of trying to develop nuclear weapons under the cover of its civilian nuclear programs.
