Islamabad : Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf Tuesday met Indian MP Nirmala Deshpande and stressed there was an urgent need to make progress in conflict resolution with India, especially the Kashmir dispute, in order to consolidate the peace process.
Deshpande, a member of the India's Rajya Sabha (upper house), called on Musharraf in Islamabad, an official statement said here.
Musharraf commended Deshpande for her efforts to promote peace between India and Pakistan and briefed her on the progress being made in the Composite Dialogue, including confidence building measures (CBMs).
Deshpande apprised Musharraf of her efforts to promote peace between the two South Asian neighbours.
The MP heads the Indian chapter of the Pakistan-India friendship group in the Indian parliament.
