Sharjah Expo to cash in on construction boom

Sharjah : With projects worth over $1 trillion currently underway in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states and $150 billion more in the pipeline, the Middle East is in midst of a construction boom.

With the annual construction machinery business touching nearly $1.3 billion, the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Expo Centre, Sharjah, will hold the region’s largest construction machinery exhibition CONMEX 2007 here Nov 5-8, to meet the needs of the construction sector, Emirates news agency WAM reported.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE), Kuwait, Qatar, and Bahrain are among the GCC states that are at present witnessing unparalleled construction boom.

The CONMEX expo will be held on an area of 31,000 sq. metres, including 15,000 sq. metres of outdoor space, and will host more than 280 brands from 23 countries.

Besides individual participation, CONMEX will also be hosting country pavilions from India, China, Romania, and Italy.

“The Middle East construction sector is currently experiencing phenomenal growth,” said Fasahat Ali Khan, advisor to the chairman and board of directors of Expo Centre.

“CONMEX, besides featuring an unique exhibit profile, will once again act as a platform for top level personnel from the construction sector and provide them with networking opportunities.”

More than 40 product launches have been planned at the event including special launches for the quarry, railway, and the construction engineering sector.
