New Delhi : Iran has offered to share with the global community its experience in disaster management and described international cooperation as a key to minimising effects of natural disasters.
Speaking at the second Asian Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction here Wednesday, Iran’s Interior Minister Mostafa Pourmohammadi said the “economic monopolisation, exploitation, injustice and circulation of assets in the hands of some states”, had made the global community vulnerable.
“The basic factors in making safe the human environment are economic growth, development of infrastructures and providing all people with natural gifts,” said Poormohammadi.
Saying that international cooperation was a key factor in minimising vulnerability against disasters, he expressed Iran’s readiness for cooperating and sharing its valuable experiences in this field with other countries, in particular Asia Pacific countries.
Iran has always been among the pioneer countries in providing humanitarian assistance and relief aid to disaster-stricken countries, he added.
Iran has also offered to host one of the subsequent international conferences on natural disaster risk reduction.
