Raipur : Maoists shot dead three troopers of the paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) late Monday night in a forested area in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district, police said.
“Maoists opened indiscriminate fire on motorcycle-borne CRPF men at a forested hamlet, 9 km from Bijapur town, killing three men on the spot,” Ratanlal Dangi, district superintendent of police, told IANS by phone.
The group of around 40-50 rebels looted a light machine gun and two rifles from the CRPF troopers.
Chhattisgarh is one of the worst Maoist hit Indian states. Around 230 people, including more than 100 policemen, have been killed in Maoist violence in the state till October.
