Jaipur : The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) presented a wish list to the state government Wednesday in its pre-budget memorandum.
The memorandum includes, among other things, suggestions to improve the state’s fiscal health.
“The pre-budget memorandum, in effect, lays the roadmap for development of the state,” R.K. Poddar, head, CII Rajasthan, told IANS here Wednesday.
CII recommended amendments in Rajasthan value-added tax (VAT) act such as including definitions of manufacturing and capital goods.
It has recommended that entry tax be abolished or brought under VAT immediately.
CII said there was a strong need for a new industrial policy for the state. It had submitted the draft of the industrial policy to the state government a few days ago.
The industry body urged the chief minister to announce the policy before the next budget.
To facilitate industrial growth, the memorandum recommended an online electronic single-window system to be introduced along with target-setting and appraisal mechanism.
CII recommended that to facilitate economic growth in the state, tourism should be accorded industry status at the earliest.
