The Ranthambore National Park, about 170 km from Jaipur, is one of the finest tiger reserves in the country. A tiger called Yuvraj has not been seen in the park for four days now.

“We have constituted four teams to find this tiger, which has not been seen for over four days in and around the jungle situated on Bundi and Sawai Madhopur (districts) border,” a forest department official said.

This is the second time that Yuvraj has done a vanishing act. In an attempt to mark his territory, the tiger had ventured out of the national park in November last year. However, he returned after a few days.

The Ranthambore National Park covers an area of around 400 sq km. It was declared a wildlife sanctuary in 1957 and was brought under the centre’s Project Tiger in 1974.

It got the status of a national park in 1981. A recent census conducted by the state government reported the tiger population in the park has increased to 32 from the earlier count of 26 in 2005.
