Monte Carlo : The international athletics federation IAAF has chosen the Qatari capital Doha for the 2010 World Indoor Championships and Istanbul for the 2012 event.
“These were clearly two top class candidates demonstrating not only excellent facilities and organisational capabilities but outstanding levels of support from public authorities,” IAAF president Lamine Diack said in a statement.
Doha, which hosted the Asian Games in 2006, annually hosts the IAAF Super Grand Prix athletics meet and is bidding for the 2016 Olympic Games.
