INLD secretary general and Rajya Sabha member Ajay Singh Chautala said that Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, state Congress parliamentarians and legislators were “looting the state in an organised manner”.

He cited Sunday’s clash in New Delhi between supporters of two Congress MPs – industrialist Naveen Jindal from Kurukshetra and Arvind Sharma from adjoining Karnal – that led to the arrest of six people as an example of their corrupt dealings.

“Yesterday’s incident in Delhi between supporters of both Congress MPs clearly shows that Congress politicians are involved in big time land deals. There is not even a single Congress politician from Haryana who is not involved in shady land deals,” Chautala said in a statement here.

He accused Jindal and Sharma of being involved in a 550-acre land deal in Sonepat district, adjoining Delhi, which was “worth billions of rupees”.

He also alleged that Congress MP from Hissar, Jai Prakash, had “grabbed” a big chunk of land from the family of a freedom fighter besides usurping other government and private lands. He said Jindal was “involved in land grabbing” in Kurukshetra while his family wanted to capture land worth Rs.5 billion in Hissar town.

Chautala accused former minister Venod Sharma, father of Manu Sharma facing charges of killing Jessica Lal, of grabbing hundreds of acres of land in Ambala city. He alleged that Sharma and his supporters were selling plots of this land.

The INLD leader said that Sirsa MP Atma Singh Gill, who was recently involved in a controversy after being found in the company of two women in a government guest house in Narwana, had purchased over 80 acres of prime land.

According to Chautala’s statement, Congress legislator Shamsher Singh Surjewala, father of Power Minister Randeep Surjewala, and Agriculture Minister Harmohinder Singh Chatha were also involved in land scams in Kaithal and Kurukshetra districts.
