Bhopal: The 24th convention of Quality Circles commenced at Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, (BHEL), Bhopal unit here today.
A quality Circle from Raman higher Secondary School, Govindpura made a presentation of their project on maintaining clean surroundings. The presentation was highly appreciated as students made a presentation on a relevant problem of the school.
The Quality Circle convention which commenced today will end on November 30 with distribution of awards to the winner circles. During the convention, more than 140 quality circles are likely to make presentations under ‘Manufacturing’, ‘Support Services-Technical’, ‘Support Services –Non-Technical’ and ‘New Circles’ Categories. The convention is being held in two parallel sessions in two different halls. The panel of judges for manufacturing category include H.S. Kadam, Mohan Singh and Vipin Minocha while the judges for support services and new circles category include P.N. Awasthi, S. Karthikeyan and A. Thaatte.
It may be recalled that BHEL pioneered in disseminating the concept of Quality Circles in India in early eighties.
Vigilance Awareness
Meanwhile, a two-day Vigilance Awareness training programme for executives was organized by Vigilance cell at BHEL, Bhopal unit. The program was inaugurated by M.C Prasad, GM (HR) the other day at HRDC. S. Dubey, GM (Corporate Vigilance), New Delhi, was special guest on this occasion.
Prasad, GM (HR), in his inaugural address asked the participants to take due care of rules while dealing with any file. He asked executives to be transparent while discharging their duties. He further said that role of vigilance is not punitive but preventive.
Dubey in his address said that vigilance training is meant to refresh the rules and regulations of the company. He said that executives have to follow the rules in the interest of the Company.
J.S Gehlaut, Sr. Dy. GM(Corp. Vigilance), J.S Arora, Sr. Dy. GM(Corp.Vigilance), New Delhi delivered lecture on Purchase Policy and Works Policy of BHEL.
M.C Shani, SP,CBI, in his address highlighted the role of CBI in PSU. R.C Parakh, AGM (MM) and S.K Pai, SDGM (MM) and K.K Nair, Sr. DGM(HR) also shared their views on this occasion.
About 35 participants form different departments of BHEL, Bhopal attended the inter-active training programme.
