Each of the team – Chandigarh Lions, Hyderabad Heroes, Mumbai Champs, Chennai Superstars, Kolkata Tigers and Delhi Jets – have a dress that reflects the ideology of that city, ICL officials claim.

They add that the colours and graphics are very vibrant, exude energy and positive attitude and work for team spirits.

So the Mumbai Champs, which has the likes of Brian Lara, Nathan Astle, Vikram Solanki, Mervyn Dillon and coach Sandeep Patil, has a bright orange outfit. The Hyderabad Heroes, which includes Inzamam-ul-Haq, Abdul Razzak, Azhar Mahmood, Chris Harris and coach Moin Khan will be in bright green.

The Kolkata Tigers will be in red, comprising Craig Macmillan, Darren Maddy, Lance Klusener, Rohan Gavaskar, Upul Chandana, Deep Dasgupta, Boyd Rankin and coach Daryll Cullinan.

Chennai Superstars in maroon colour will have the likes of Stuart Law, Ian Harvey, Hemang Badani, Chirs Read, Russel Arnold and coach Michael Bevan.

Chandigarh Lions in bright yellow will feature Chris Cairns, Imran Farhat, Dinesh Mongia, Andrew Hall, Reetinder Singh Sodhi, Rajesh Sharma, Daryl Tuffey and coach Balwinder Sandhu.

The Delhi Jets will be in blue with Neil O’Brien, Marvan Atapattu, Toufeeq Umar, Paul Nixon, J.P. Yadav and coach Madal Lal.

ICL’s slogan to attract fans

“Aao dekhen khel ka naya andaaz” (Come, lets see sports in its new form) is Indian Cricket league’s slogan to promote its 17-day extravaganza in Panchkula.

Using the catchy slogan, they have begun selling tickets, which have been brisk enough. Given the limited capacity of the stadium here – just over 6,000 – ICL organisers will probably not need to worry about filling the stadium.

Celebs, businessmen and politicians, too

The ICL spearheaded by Kapil Dev, the man they love in these parts is leaving no stone unturned. Backed by Essel group, he is not only contacting cricketers but also celebrities. And the result will be a mix of Bollywood stars, ex-cricketers in various capacities ranging from active play to coaching to refereeing and so on and finally high-profile businessmen like Anil Ambani and politician Lalu Prasad Yadav.

With some sections of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), not too happy with Shah Rukh Khan gracing the cricket grounds, may ICL can try and rope in King Khan, too.

The Bollywood stars will include Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor and Yana Gupta besides performers like singer Kailash Kher. Then there are 50 international cricketing personalities plus the likes of Ajit Wadekar, Kiran More, EAS Prasanna, Dean Jones, Tony Greig and several others. Add to them Ambani and Lal Prasad.
