Australia beat India by 84 runs in second ODI

Kochi : Australia defeated India by 84 runs in the second one-day international at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here Tuesday to take a 1-0 lead in the seven-match series.

Andrew Symonds and Brad Haddin scored an identical 87 while Matthew Hayden made 75 as Australia hammered 306 for six wickets in 50 overs.

In reply, India folded up for 222 in 47.3 overs, with captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni scoring 58 and Robin Uthappa 41. Brad Hogg took three wickets while Stuart Clark and Michael Clarke bagged two wickets each.
