The meeting was held prior to Mottaki’s departure from New York for Tehran later on the day at the end of his two-week visit to the city to attend the UN General Assembly.

Referring to the changing nature of the international developments during the past 60 years since the UN has started its work, Mottaki said the international body itself needed reform in order to be able to play its vital role in solving international problems.

“Dealing with international problems is not specific to one certain country but rather needs an international solution made with the participation of all UN member states,” Mottaki said.

He denounced double standard policies in the fight against terrorism noting, “This will damage international community.” Mottaki stressed that Iran “is completely against breakout of wars in the world” as it had experienced its consequences during the Iraqi imposed war against Iran (1980-1988) and during several wars in the region including in Iraq, Afghanistan and Lebanon.

Meanwhile, the 62nd session of the UN General Assembly stressed that no one could solve international problems by its own.

Kerim noted that the fight against terrorism and the climate change campaign were two major priorities of the United Nations.
