Kinshasa : The toll in Thursday’s cargo plane crash in the capital of Congo has risen to 38, the ministry of humanitarian affairs said Friday.
The dead include 20 passengers and three members of the crew aboard when the plane crashed into a crowded residential area, 5 km from the Kinshasa airport shortly after takeoff, the ministry said.
It said 15 people were killed on the ground, and that the number of the dead given was provisional and a final figure could be given later.
The Russian-made Antonov-26 plane belonging to a private airline Africa One, on its way from Kinshasa to the country’s central city of Tshikapa, crashed at 10.30 a.m. local time Thursday.
