Ambalapuzha Palpayasam was reportedly sold at the Triveni Megamart here for a few days early this week before angry devotees protested.

Sudhakaran has asked the Travancore Devasom Board’s top official to immediately launch an inquiry and submit a report.

A.P. Kannan, administrator of the temple, told IANS: “On the 4th of this month I got a call from a devotee saying that the prasadam is being sold in the supermarket and I immediately gave a written complaint to the officials of the supermarket and the sales were stopped. Every day hundreds of devotees book in advance for the prasadam. But selling our prasadam through shops is an act which can never be forgiven.”

Every day 390 litres of the popular prasadam is prepared in the temple kitchen and devotees have to book a day in advance to get the offering.
