Former Bangladesh cricket body chief jailed

Dhaka : Former Bangladesh Cricket Board chairman Ali Asghar Lobi was jailed for 13 years Sunday on charges of corruption and abuse of power, judicial officials said.

The sentence was handed down to Lobi by district court judge Mohammad Nuruddin.

Lobi, also a member of parliament, was president of the board for a term of five years. Officials said he was tried in absentia.
